White Pine Labs ("we", "us") is a Canadian software studio that builds software products, including Daily Tasks. This policy describes, in plain terms, how we collect, use, and protect information within our products and this website.

Information we collect

We collect only what is needed to operate our products:

• Account information: the guardian's name, email address, and password (or sign-in credentials) used to create and secure an account.
• Dependent and routine data: the information a guardian enters about the person they support, such as a name or nickname, daily tasks and routines, reward settings, and progress or completion history.
• Notification data: a device token used to deliver reminders and alerts through our push notification provider.
• Technical data: information collected automatically to keep the service secure and reliable, such as IP address, device and browser type, and error or activity logs generated by our hosting infrastructure.
• Email data: the email address and delivery status associated with account and notification emails we send.

Guardians and dependents

Daily Tasks is designed to be used by a guardian on behalf of someone they support, who may be a minor or an adult who cannot independently agree to this policy. The dependent does not create their own account. By entering information about a dependent, the guardian confirms they have the authority to do so and accepts this policy on the dependent's behalf. Guardians should only enter information about a dependent that is necessary to use the app's features.

How we use information

Information is used to provide and improve our products, deliver reminders and notifications, respond to support requests, keep accounts secure, and communicate important updates. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use dependent data for advertising.

Service providers

We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate Daily Tasks, each of which processes information only as needed to perform its function:

• Firebase (Google) — delivers push notifications and reminders.
• Resend — sends transactional emails, such as account and notification emails.
• Render — hosts our application and stores data on our behalf.

These providers may process information outside of Canada, including in the United States. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure information continues to receive an appropriate level of protection.

Data sharing

Beyond the service providers described above, we share information only when required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users, or with your consent. We do not share dependent data with third parties for their own purposes.

Data retention

We retain account and dependent data for as long as the account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize associated data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or accounting purposes.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, such as encryption in transit and access controls, to protect information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

As the guardian and account holder, you can access, correct, export, or request deletion of your account and dependent data at any time by contacting us. You may also withdraw consent for us to process information, though this may limit or end your ability to use the app.

Children's privacy

Daily Tasks is not directed at children for independent, unsupervised use, and children do not create their own accounts. Where a dependent is a minor, their information is provided and managed by their guardian, who is responsible for that information under this policy.

Cookies

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technology required for the site or app to function.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our products or legal requirements. We will update the "last updated" date above and, where changes are material, provide additional notice.
